Band: Shades of War
From: Jacksonville, Florida
Their formation story:
(Doug, bass): "Shades formed late in the fall of 2022 as a project Trevor had been working on. After he had a few songs demo’d out, he reached out to all of us and we started practicing weekly.
"After a few months, Trevor went to Tallahassee and recorded our self-titled EP with Tyler Denslow at KOTP and we released it in conjunction with a weekend alongside Rhythm of Fear from Jacksonville, and Living in Fear from Atlanta."
Their sound in their own words:
"When we set out to start the band, we wanted to make crossover hardcore. Shit for the headbangers, something you can really groove to. Justin (guitar) is a huge Jeff Hanneman fan, he loves sprinkling in some creepy shit in the mix. And we’re really just influenced by everything we grew up listening to from early Sepultura, to Leeway, to Guns Up!, and The Mongoloids."
Latest release info:
"Our latest effort is titled Out of Destruction and it’s something we have been working on since we released the first EP last year. It’s 4 fast tracks you can break your neck to with a nice little breather in the middle.
"We recorded everything in house through Trevor and Sentient Studios earlier this year, and it is being released via Night Shift Merch and KOTP."
Future plans:
"Right now, we are getting ready to go out on the road for a long weekend to support the release with our friends in Realms of Death from Texas, and Beastplague from South Florida next month. Then we are playing Florida Together fest at a super cool DIY venue called The S.P.O.T. in Orlando in February."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Besides the two bands, we're hitting the road with next month, Florida is crazy right now. There have been a ton of cool bands lately and a few cool ones I’ve been listening to lately are Chaos Relic, Between You and God, Xcelerate, Jezter, Unregistered Weapon, and Miracle."
Out of Destruction is available on CD and cassette via Night Shift Merch, and streaming via KOTP Records.
