Band: Panic Strike
From: Jacksonville, Florida
Their formation story:
(Taylor, vocals): "We’ve all been friends and making music with each other for a long time, but never the four of us together in one band. We’ve been in and around the hardcore scene for a long time, but were recently inspired by the slew of awesome bands coming out of Florida.
"At that point, we knew we wanted to form a group where the sound draws from the bands that got us stoked when we first started going to shows and the four of us coming together for that was common sense."
Their sound in their own words:
"I think the base of it all starts with fast, punchy, no frills hardcore. High energy and heavy from start to finish. There’s some metal influence present in our songs, especially in the guitars, similarly to bands like Axis, but it’s still very obviously hardcore through and through. I think we’re just getting some shit off our chest and not letting our foot off the gas."
Latest release info:
"We just put out a song in August called 'Sympathy Addict.' It’s track 2 on our upcoming 5-track EP titled Nail the Colors, which will release in October. Lyrically, I wrote these songs just from my own thoughts & experiences, but drenched in metaphor. They’re typical themes of betrayal, guilt, and exhaustion wrapped up and presented in a way that I hope is relatable.
"The EP is five tracks that are short and to the point, and I think as a whole it does a good job of showcasing what we’re about as a band."
Future plans:
"Right now, we just wanna play shows and have fun. There are so many up and coming bands that we want to share the stage with that we think are awesome. We’re at a point here in Jacksonville, and pretty much all of Florida, where if you go to a show with a five band bill, you’re going to want to be there to see all five bands. We want to be a part of that.
"Now that we have this EP finished we’re going to take a break from writing and just get some shows booked."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Like I’ve said, there’s a ton of cool bands coming out of Florida right now, so it’s hard to narrow it down to a few. Bands from right here in Jacksonville that people should check out are Peptide, Shades of War, and Chaos Relic."
