Band: Exhume
From: Brighton, UK
Their formation story:
(Etienne, guitar): “Myself and Shaun (guitar) decided to start the band. Weren’t sure if we’d go pop-punk, death metal or even a country acoustic duo. When we settled on going the crossover route we recruited Zack (drummer) who we knew from our previous band, Put Down. Joey was originally down to play bass with our good friend Tilly on vocals.
"Tilly had too much going on so stepped back, Joey had always fancied vocals so put his name forward which left a hole at bass. Zack suggested Sam for the role and thankfully he wanted it. Everything seemed to click at that point. Tilly is still one of our biggest supporters and even fills in where he can, an honorary member of the band if you will.”
Their sound in their own words:
“Heavy crossover with elements of hardcore, metal, thrash and death metal. Early influences such as Power Trip, Slayer, Victim to None, Drawn In. When I listen I hear just relentless energy; riffs on riffs, brutal vocals over insane drumming.”
Latest release info:
“Shaun is a riff writing machine, of the 10+ solid ideas, we made it out the studio with 3 songs. We dropped our tuning from E standard down to D standard just to add a bit of doom but keep the riffing ability. Just another couple of songs about death and how people can be arse.”
Future plans:
“Hit Europe (in the works), more UK shows outside of Brighton, more UK runs/weekenders and of course more music, hopefully another release towards the end of the year.”
What other bands from your region should we check out?
“Anyone and everyone from the BN1.”
