Band: Bring the Light
From: Saint Jean Sur Richelieu, Québec
Their formation story:
(Jeff Quesnel, vocals): "Mart Charron and I were in a punk ska band named Subb from 1995 to 2010. We were on Stomp Records/Warner Music Canada and had a pretty good run, touring mostly in Canada and playing shows in Europe and Japan as well.
"In 2018, the idea of forming a melodic hardcore project was really obsessing me so I‘ve called my old bandmate and guitarist Mart Charron to see if we was feeling the same urge to create something in that genre. Soon enough, we’ve had recruited Nick Poissant on drums, Vincent Gauthier on bass, and Frank Chartrand on guitar."
Their sound in their own words:
"Melodic hardcore music, heavily influenced by Dag Nasty, Comeback Kid, Strike Anywhere, and Suicide Machines."
Latest release info:
"Building Chaos was released on May 10th through People of Punk Rock Records located in Quebec City. It’s a 8-song EP giving you guys 20 minutes of punk rock and hardcore!"
Future plans:
"We are playing a couple of shows in Quebec this summer and we are preparing a tour with a band named Twenty2 this Fall. We are also working on songs for a full LP."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Sudden Waves, The Lookout, Twenty2, No Step Back, and Quest Kon Fuse are good bands if you like punk rock and hardcore."
Building Chaos is available on CD and cassette via People of Punk Rock Records.
