NYHC band Incendiary Device are back with a new track and an accompanying music video. "Young at Heart" pulls from the fast, melodic side of hardcore punk and delivers powerful sing-along choruses and crunchy, high-speed guitar work. It also features a cameo from Biohazard’s Bobby Hambel, who lays down a ripping guitar lead that bridges Incendiary Device’s energy with his own signature hardcore-meets-metal style.
The video serves as a tribute to iconic Big Apple punk institutions, taking viewers through landmarks like A7, Tompkins Square Park, and the Astoria subway line. Incendiary Device turns it into a fun, fast-moving history lesson, complemented by footage of the band performing at A7—now Niagara Bar—widely considered the birthplace of New York hardcore. Even the live shots feel like part of the larger homage:
The band’s vocalist, Drew Stone—also a filmmaker and video podcaster—continues to play an active role in preserving NYHC culture, and this video is clear evidence of that. Reflecting on “Young at Heart,” Stone explains:
“The body ages, the lines on our faces grow deeper, the responsibilities of adulthood try to knock us off center, but the awe of hearing Bad Brains, Minor Threat, or Black Flag for the first time leaves an eternal imprint. Our physical body is subjected to the ravages of time, but music is in the soul—ageless. Channel that youthful rage, stay young at heart.”
