Cold Case BHC: Metallic Hardcore Band Serves Up a Pummeling on “False Promise”

Specializing in a wicked strain of metallic hardcore, Cold Case BHC is the brainchild of guitarist Jason Guigno. It started off as a studio project by Guigno, eventually morphing into a full-on band in January 2023 with the release of the band's Beyond Recognition EP, which was followed soon after by the There Will Be Blood EP later that year.

While Cold Case BHC was working on material for their next studio release, vocalist Eric Guigno (Jason's brother) took an indefinite hiatus and guitarist Nick stepped in to front the band for a few shows, and ultimately decided to bow out. Greg Mann (Dysentery, Before I Had Wings) and Chris Moose (Graveborn, Empire) filled in the vocal slots during that period.

Meanwhile, Jason has continued to lead the charge, penning songs and taking Cold Case BHC into a darker direction. The evidence of that can be heard on "False Promise," a track No Echo is premiering for our readers today. The song marks the return of vocalist Eric into the fold, and the debut of new second guitarist Rob Carlson (The Greying).

Check out "False Promise" below, which also features the savage vocals of Street Power's Chris Cesarini:

"'False Promise,' musically speaking, is the most cohesive song we have written since the start of this band. Coming off our second EP, There Will Be Blood, we were excited to get back to writing, after capturing what we felt was a faster and more explosive side of our sound," Jason tells No Echo. "We wanted to blend that with some of the darker melodies from songs like 'Wasted' on Beyond Recognition, but not recreate either EP.

"Agreeing about what we liked on these EPs helped us a lot and we were able to take more chances but keep everything within the realm of where we wanted it. This helped us challenge each other more, but not let our style get away from us."

Jason is clearly excited to be working with Eric again. "I always write with my brother’s voice in my head and usually our patterns sync up well. With his brief absence during this song, I started this one off Lyrically and focused on the theme of losing your innocence as a child and what that feels like to have certain people or events trigger the anxieties of the real world at too young of an age.

"When my brother came back into the fold as the song was being completed, he took it to another level by focusing on the current issue of child influencers on social media directly. False Promise is a direct call out exposing influencers with hidden agendas and a thirst for fame at the expense of recent generations. It’s a call to war on influencer’s pushing content like pied pipers with no responsibility regarding the outcome to young minds. This song is a reminder to us as adults to be vigilant protectors of innocent and developing minds."
