Former Seaweed Singer Aaron Stauffer Returns with Solo Track “Storm Coordinates”

Aaron Stauffer and Bryan Garfinkle, 2024.

Former Seaweed vocalist Aaron Stauffer is back with new solo material in tow. "Storm Coordinates" finds the Washington state native once again working with multi-instrumentalist and producer Bryan Garfinkle.

"The main person I collaborate with is Bryan Garfinkle," Aaron told me back in 2021. "He is an old friend I met via Clint [Werner] from Seaweed. Though I think I have met Bryan at a Seaweed show in his hometown of Virginia Beach. Either way, we have been playing together for over 20 years and I think he has become the default drummer, bassist, keyboardist, and Producer/Mixer for my solo stuff."

To my ears, the guitar lines and vibe of "Storm Coordinates" brings to mind something Bob Pollard would release via Guided By Voices or one of his other projects. The music and its recording has a dreamlike thing going on that suits Aaron's vocal nicely:

Aaron releases solo material sporadically, so follow his Bandcamp page for updates whenever he drops a new track.

If you're looking for something more in the Seaweed side of his sound, his band Ghost Work released a fine album called Light a Candle for the Lonely earlier this year.

Ghost Work also features bassist Dustin Perry (Snapcase, Threadbare), guitarist Sean Husick (Milemarker), and drummer Erin Tate (Minus the Bear, Killsadie).
