New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Fatal Dose

Band: Fatal Dose
From: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Their formation story:
(Mack Haney, vocals): "Shortly after Alastair had left The Enforcers, a skinhead band from Calgary, Alberta. Alastair and myself began to write material in his basement. Shortly after, Riley joined in. We were mostly just messing around, but began to notice that we had similarities in writing styles and wanted to pursue that. After which, Iain and Connor joined."

Their sound in their own words:
"Our primary influences are H8000 bands and more specifically bands such as Kickback, Merauder, and Mgla in a certain way. We tend to write a few songs that are high energy, with a few tracks that'll have a more somber feeling."

Latest release info:
"Essentially, we infuse black metal and hardcore, which brings a different kind of sound. The lyrics, compared to our demo, became more personal and disturbing. Which kind of resulted in our music having a more pissed off attitude.

"My lyrics touch on suicide and the pervasive use of drugs and chasing dopamine. I talk about how people have lost their connection to true happiness, and have settled for using short-term highs to get thru days of monotony."

Future plans:
"We are about to hit the road in Western Canada for the last week of June. We plan on writing new material, though there is no specific date. We also plan on hitting the west coast, such as the Bay Area and parts of Washington."

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Bands that are absolutely worth checking out are The Enforcers, Juice, Poisoned Seeds, Meantime, and Criminal Mind. There is a newer band from Calgary, Alberta called TRANQ that just released a demo as well."

The Incurable EP is availabe on cassette via Rest Assured Records.
