Ashtray is a Chicago hardcore band that has a pissed-off, to-the-point writing style that appeals to me in a big way. When I say that, I don't mean that they're doing something in the metallic hardcore realm, because their songwriting is definitely more in the late '80s, NYHC wheelhouse.
Formed in late 2017, Ashtray featuring ex-members of Peace of Mind, Difference Between, and Art. 2018 saw the quartet drop a 5-song demo, but that somehow missed my radar. Now, they're gearing up for the vinyl release of their proper EP debut, Good People to Do Business With. "D4C" is a track from the EP (the entire thing is up on Bandcamp already) that rubs a certain Judge itch that brings a huge fucking smile to my face. The vocals are especially crucial, but the overall vibe is fantastic.

The vinyl version of Good People to Do Business With will be arriving soon via Sob Story Records.
