Missouri deathcore band This Is Me Breathing have spent the past decade building a reputation as a relentless presence in the heavy music underground. Formed in St. Louis in 2014, the band sharpened its sound over years of touring and lineup changes, eventually locking into a permanent roster in 2019. Since then, they’ve honed a style that blends groove-driven brutality, crushing slams, and an oppressive atmosphere—an approach that has taken them across 29 states and onto stages alongside acts like Lorna Shore, Chelsea Grin, Spite, Boundaries, and Bleeding Through.
Now the band is preparing to release their forthcoming full-length, Serenity In Suffering, due out this summer. Recorded and mixed at Sicktones Studios in April 2024 and engineered by Jack Daniels and Elisha Mullins—before being mastered by Jeff Dunne—the album represents a major step forward for the group, both sonically and emotionally.

The song captures This Is Me Breathing at its most refined and punishing, balancing suffocating heaviness with sharper dynamics and emotional weight. The band describes the track as an exploration of confronting difficult truths and accepting life’s harsher realities. “'Serenity In Suffering' is an anxiety-driven track about finding acceptance that not all things have a happy ending,” the band explains. “The song was inspired by The God Delusion by Charles Dawkins.”
With Serenity In Suffering, the band challenged themselves to push beyond the limits of their earlier work, resulting in what they view as their most focused and fully realized release to date.
