The Greying: Massachusetts Metalcore Band Drops “Thoughts in Reverse” Video (PREMIERE)

Dropping their debut album Death Is a Welcome Friend, back in February, The Greying capped off nearly 6 years of progress and crafted a collection of songs that truly represents where they’re at now. Marrying the mosh-centric precision of Bury Your Dead and On Broken Wings with the hardcore attitude of The Greenery and Terror, the album is a gripping experience that leaves the listener withered by the time the final breakdown kicks in.

Playing a string of shows along the East Coast alongside acts like Jealous Mind, Latch, Held Captive, and Cooked Alive, The Greying kept on chugging to promote their album throughout the year.

This all leads to the premiere of their new video for the track “Thoughts In Reverse.” Shot by Nick Court of Last Sight, the video depicts the band doing what they do best: ripping it up in front of the crowd on their run earlier this year.

Speaking on the track’s lyrical content, bassist Derrick revealed:

“It’s one of the more lyrically heavy songs on the record. Jordan and Noah lost their friend, Kory, during the album recording process. This song sort of came to fruition in the wake of that grief. The three of them all met through this community so it felt fitting to name the song after Kory’s band.”

Alongside the video release, The Greying has announced a vinyl pressing of Death Is a Welcome Friend through Purchase Street Records. “Roger has been a supporter since day one and putting the vinyl out with him was something we wanted to do from the very beginning," Derrick explained.

"The record has also been remastered for Vinyl by Shane Frisby (Bury Your Dead, The Ghost Inside, Deez Nuts). He put a really nice bow on all the great production work Rob did.” Pick up a copy of the vinyl here.

The Greying will be finishing off the summer by playing a number of shows in New England, one of which is opening for MA death metalheads Mourned, as well as a couple shows in Connecticut and Maine. If you’re in the area be sure to catch their heavy assault on the crowd.

The Greying would like to shout out: Roger Chouinard of Purchase Street Records, and Nick Court of Killing It Entertainment. Thank you to Shane Frisby, Ryan Beck, Russell Townsend, Joe Krewko, and Dom Morelli for their contributions to the album.

Listen to: Hate Still Burns, Gumskab, Shapethrower, Edict, Last Sight, Latch, Jealous Mind, Held Captive, Euclid, Grasp, Riverbed, Cadaverette, and Cold Case BHC.
