Skorched: LA Band Delivers Riffy Crossover Thrash on Two New Tracks (PREMIERE)

Hailing from the City of Angels, meet Skorched. The quintet's formation can be traced back to a Craigslist ad in late 2023, which proves that sometimes those kinds of "looking for musicians" postings actually do work.

Skorched's sonic approach is mainly rooted in classic crossover thrash with touches of death metal sprinkled throughout. They made their debut via a 4-song demo at end of last year. The group features former members of hardcore punk bands Olor A Muerte and Snubbed, as well as musicians from LA bands Saline and Benchwarmers.

Today, Skorched are dropping a new punch to the gut in the form of “Last Ride” and “Counterfeit Life," a 2-track release recorded by Taylor Young (Twitching Tongues, God's Hate) at the former Van Nuys location of his Pit Recording Studio:

Scorched vocalist Joe Sioufi shared the following with No Echo about the new songs:

“Although unintentional, fraud is a lyrical theme tying the two tracks together. ‘Last Ride’ being on an interpersonal level; an ode to the mid-2000s hardcore bands who broke me into the genre. ‘Counterfeit Life’ being on a macro level; addressing a society distracted by materialism and biased media from the doom and gloom of our reality.”
