Machines of Hate is a Massachusetts hardcore outfit that briefly came out of hibernation mode over the past summer. Comprised of folks who have also played in such bands as Restraining Order, Violence to Fade, and Revenge, their playing style is focused and meaner than a junkyard dog.
"The band starting when Will and I were in Revenge we wanted to do a hard straight edge band that wasn’t corny," vocalist George Barroso wrote No Echo about Machines of Hate's formation in the mid-2010s.
"Machines of Hate's sound is basically music written for psychopaths and death row inmates, people looking for some form of salvation and finding none. Our influences first and foremost are western Mass bands: Pushbutton Warfare, Bloodbath, and Aftershock, but also early Hatebreed, Stigmata, 100 Demons, Carcass, and Integrity."
On Edge Day (October 17) last month, Machines of Hate dropped a self-titled release comprised of eight tracks which they recorded from Fall 2019 - Summer 2024. "As the most straight edge band of all time, it seemed appropriate to release it for Edge Day," wrote George.
Now to the "hibernation" part I mentioned above. Machines of Hate released a demo and played sporadic shows during their initial run together, before going on hiatus, as George explained.
"We played a handful of western Mass shows and a fest out in Los Angeles back then. The western Mass shows always ended in fights and chaos."
Speaking of shows, Machines of Hate will be playing a gig on November 25th alongside Sinister Feeling, Dimension Six, and Life Sentence (no, not the Chicago one) in Holyoke, Massachusetts:
