Band: Triflin
From: Flint, Michigan

Their formation story:
(Owen Pike, vocalist): "We formed in the spring of 2024. Me and our guitarist DJ who played in another band, Under the Knife, together wanted to do something new due to the band going on a hiatus. We reached out to our friend Jamie (drummer for Barefaced) and was happy that he was immediately down to start writing with us.

"He introduced us to his friend Dylan who is now our bassist and we got the ball rolling on working on our first demo."

Their sound in their own words:
"We’ve gotten comparisons to bands like Backtrack and Mindforce in the past. Our guitarist takes a lot of inspiration from Pantera and Limp Bizkit for the bouncy/groove sections of our writing and I personally take a lot of inspiration vocally and writing style from bands like Gridiron, Denied, and Done Deal.

"Inspirations are all over the place for sure but we’re really just writing the kind of stuff we would personally want to see live and mosh to."

Latest release info:
"Our self-titled demo was all recorded DIY-style at my house and had the pleasure of having our friend Dylan Barnes of World of Malice mix and master it. This EP definitely has more of a beatdown vibe to it compared to our new material we’re in the process of writing right now.

"We had our friend Allyson Ketchum illustrate the cover art which we were super excited with how it turned out."

Future plans:
"We are currently about to start recording 2 new songs for a single release to be released between October and early November, as well as working on a Midwest weekend run with Detroit's Doubt It! We plan to hit Chicago, Indiana, and Minneapolis, so if you’re in any of those areas keep your eyes peeled for an announcement on our Instagram!"

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Check out xPersistx, World of Malice, Concrete Teeth, Lockdown, Kingslayer, D0nnie Brasc0, Decedent, Sacrifice of Life, and Dead Hang! I could list even more but just want to give a big shoutout to WMHC and DHC as a whole we love seeing what Michigan has been doing these last couple years."
