New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Life Goes On

Band: Life Goes On
From: Birmingham, Alabama

Their formation story:
(Donnie, vocals): "We all met and became friends just from going to hardcore shows in Birmingham. Tanner, Cam, and Aesop were previously in a band before COVID called Cherry Bomb.

"Tanner had written some songs over lockdown that he wanted to use for a straight edge band, he sent them to me and asked if I wanted to do vocals, and then we put out the demo not too long after that."

Their sound in their own words:
"Pure hardcore. Tanner mentioned stuff like the Method of Doubt demo when he was first writing the demo songs. I would say we sound like something closer to Outspoken or Abuse of Power at this point. I'm a big fan of the early '90s New Age roster and I like to imagine us trying to capture something close to that vibe."

Latest release info:
"Three new songs and re-recordings of the songs from the demo. We've been trying to record the new songs for almost 2 years but of course life gets in the way. We're stoked with how they came out.

"Josh from Armageddon Records has been a friend to us and a fan of the demo since it came out, and we love what he's been doing with his label as far as representing awesome bands from the Southeast, so it was a perfect fit for us."

Future plans:
"I fear we are doomed to forever be a side project due to most members having other bands/jobs/school that  they have to prioritize. We treat this band as something that's fun to do with no pressure to take it too seriously. We love playing shows when the stars align and since they are sometimes few and far between they feel more special that way.

"We have some shows planned next year and hopefully some more songs in the near future. Thanks to anyone who likes the new tape, it means a lot to us."

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Bands from Birmingham to keep an eye on are Confusion's Prince, Forced Neglect, Defense Wound, Cold Hard Steel, Path of Destruction, and No Cure. Other awesome southeast bands to check out are Stampede, Seasons End, True Name, Can't Keep Up, The Few, Painful Choice, Deal With It, Identity Shock, Ballistic Ax, Statement of Pride, 18th Amendment, False Frame, Re-Ignition, and Reason To Hate.

"Designated Mosher's Unit and Armageddon Records are doing a lot of cool stuff right now so just check out everything those labels put out... peace."

The EP is available on cassette and CD via Armageddon Records.
