Band: Corrosives
From: Buffalo, New York
Their formation story:
(Drew, guitar/vocals): "Late last year Ian (drums, engineer) hit me up with an idea to do this as a project band while both of our main bands were on tour, with the only guideline being 'heavy.' We talked a bit about what that word meant to us sonically, a few key influences, and got to work pretty much immediately upon getting home.
"After a few writing sessions we recruited Pedro (bass) to round out the lineup as a 3-piece and pull the songs together to their final form."
Their sound in their own words:
"Our influences are all over the place but sonically the end result, I think, sits somewhere at the intersection of crust, death metal, and hardcore punk. Some key bands we drew influence and learned a lot of our tricks from are Celtic Frost, Discharge, Sepultura, Effigy, and Amebix."
Latest release info:
"Our Wasteland cassette EP is the first four songs we wrote together and recorded within a couple months of forming. We booked our first show with only pieces of the songs written and used that as a deadline to pull it together. I'd like to think the urgency of that combined with the lack of ability to dwell on minute details lent itself to the end result."
Future plans:
"We just recorded a new song for a 4-way split 7" on Total Supply. Playing a few gigs next month in Syracuse, Montreal and Ottawa then writing and recording for our second EP."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"We're split between Buffalo, New York and Welland, Ontario, Canada so the list is long, but: Sweet Talker, Violent Way, BFD, Terminator, Windoc, Mental Anguish, Anthropic, Deluxxe, Best Wishes, Science Man, Besta Quadrada, Razorface, Torrent, Contraband, Healer, Fool's Blood, and probably a bunch more that I'm forgetting."
